Happy Birthday Canada! You look just great for 148 years old. In fact, Canada is known across the world for its beautiful scenery and one of the best ways to take it all in is out on the open road for a Canadian Dream Drive. It’s nearly impossible to choose just three, but we gave it our best shot. If we’ve missed your favorite Canadian Dream Drive, be sure to let us know in the comments below.

#1 – The Sea to Sky Highway | Vancouver to Whistler, British Columbia

sea to sky highway

This one is close to our hearts and close to our headquarters. Starting from Vancouver, this curvy cruise offers breathtaking views of Howe Sound and mountain peaks for miles as you work your way to Whistler Village. As you pass through Squamish, take a moment to admire the legendary Stawamus Chief Mountain, a solid granite dome that rises nearly 2,300 feet above the nearby waters of Howe Sound. For a bird’s eye view, take a ride up the new Sea to Sky Gondola. Once you arrive at the end this epic West Coast road trip, take a stroll through Whistler Village, the host city for 2010 Winter Olympics.

#2 – The Gaspésie Tour | The Gaspé Peninsula, Quebec

Towards the middle of this diverse and vast country is the incredible Gaspé Peninsula (officially called the Gaspésie), which cuddles the waters of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Gaspé meaning “land’s end” will take your breath away with stunning views of the Saint Lawrence River. This particular tour, which runs in a coastal loop around the peninsula takes about 10 days in total to complete and is well worth the effort. It landed a spot on National Geographic Traveler’s list Canada’s 50 Places of a Lifetime, and was awarded with three stars by Michelin’s Green Guide. Need we say more?

#3 – The Cabot Trail | Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia

cabot-trail-road-trip

If you head north from Halifax, you’ll work your way off the mainland of Nova Scotia to the foot of Canso Causeway, the gateway to Cape Breton Island. Follow the highway north on the eastern side (or the west, your choice) of the island and you’ll soon be rewarded with one of the world’s most scenic drives, the Cabot Trail. At 298km (185 mi), this coastal adventure takes you on a loop on the northern tip of the island, highlighting the wonders of Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Whether on the road or on one of the many hikes, be keep a close eye out for the Bald Eagles and Moose. Restaurants along the way offer fresh, locally caught seafood and there are many cultural festivals and events throughout the year. What are you waiting for?

What’s your top Canadian dream drive?
