Mojio humanizes the connected car experience with Amazon’s voice service

Mojio Gives Your Connected Car a Voice

Mojio, meet Alexa. Alexa, meet Mojio.

Amazon Echo* is designed around your voice. It’s hands-free and always on. With seven microphones and beam-forming technology, Echo can hear you from across the room—even while music is playing.

Echo connects to Alexa, a cloud-based voice service, to provide information, answer questions, play music, read the news, check the weather, and more—instantly. All you have to do is ask.

In June of 2015, Amazon announced the Alexa Fund. This new fund was established to provide up to $100 million in investments to support developers, manufacturers, and start-ups of all sizes who are passionate about creating new experiences designed around the human voice. The Alexa Fund started off with just seven initial investments, including Mojio. Since then, Mojio’s engineering team has being working with the Alexa Skills Kit to integrate Amazon’s leading voice technologies with Mojio’s open connected car platform.

Today, we are excited to the announce the availability of the Mojio Skill in the Alexa app*. This is just a taste of what will grow into an even more advanced and capable set of voice commands in the near future.

If your car could talk, what would it say?

Mojio and Echo make it possible to connect you with your car in a whole new way, even when you’re not in it. By harnessing the Mojio device’s always-on 3G + GPS connections, Alexa can answer questions that help make everyday life more seamless.

Get peace of mind without the dangerous distractions

It’s natural to worry about the ones we love, especially when they are driving. But distracting text messages and phone calls can be dangerous. Did you know that while traveling at 55mph, a car can cover the length of a football field in just 5 seconds? That’s the average time your eyes will be off the road if you’re distracted by a text. Cut out the distractions and just ask:

Alexa, ask Mojio to locate my car.

Alexa will respond with information about the status (driving or parked) and current location of the car, including the street address.

Get the information you need before you leave home

Many of us scramble around in the morning because we’ve hit the snooze button one too many times. Do you have enough gas to get you to your first meeting? Save time and make informed decisions to help your day run more smoothly. Just ask:

Alexa, ask Mojio how much gas I have.

Alexa will respond with information about the fuel status of your vehicle, including the percentage of gas left in the fuel tank.

Learn more about your driving habits

What do you know about your driving behavior? Curious about your last trip? Instead of guessing, take a moment and have some fun with Alexa. Just ask:

Alexa, ask Mojio to tell me about my last trip.

Alexa will respond with information about the last trip that your car took, including the total distance traveled.

Setup is simple

  1. Download and sign in to the Amazon Alexa app (iOSAndroid and FireOS). You can also complete the setup via the Amazon Alexa web app.
  2. In the menu go to Skills and search for Mojio
  3. Read about the Mojio Skill and click “Enable Skill” to add it to your account
  4. The Enable Skill button will take you to a Mojio authorization screen. You will need to sign in to your Mojio account to pair Mojio with Alexa.
  5. That’s it, now you’re connected. Start asking Alexa questions about your car.
